Summit Saturday School is a private school which is open every Saturday during term time. Summit is a formal school, with qualified teachers, a Principal, Deputy Head and the other formalities of a week-day school. The founder and Principal is Burgette Stewart whose passion for children and learning led her to establish the school in the 1990s. She has seen the lives of hundreds of students transformed by being at Summit.
The school’s motto is “we give you the tools to climb mountains!” That is exactly what Summit does by empowering its pupils with excellent teaching and the confidence to excel in examinations as well as in their lives. By the time students leave Summit they are confident and highly motivated.
Class size at Summit is small. This is for the comfort of the pupils.
It allows every pupil in the class to be engaged and participate fully. Regular monitoring of our students’ progress and communication with parents is an important aspect of our work at Summit Saturday School.
When parents apply to Summit they are invited to bring their child for an assessment. The results can sometime be surprising as our assessment may show the child to have strengths or weaknesses the parent was not aware of. The results of the assessment provide valuable information for the teachers. This allows our teachers to prepare an appropriate study plan and allocate the student to the correct class.
Teachers at Summit are qualified to teach, hold a degree in the subject they teach and are specialist in that area. Every teacher has a current DBS clearance, many years experience in their subject and a proven track record in raising ability.
At Summit we recognise that pupils benefit from having a broad base of experiences including voluntary work. Our connection with FTSE 100 companies creates an exceptional opportunity to attend workshops, internships and learn valuable networking skills.
The celebration and acknowledgement of students’ achievements is very dear to us. The Annual Presentation involves all the pupils at our school and their parents. It is an important event in the annual calendar .
Summit students are exclusively invited to compete for a lucrative cash prize in the Felicia Amosu Award. Offered every year by Abi Amosu of the prestigious Amosu family, in honour of Mrs. Felicia Amosu. This competition draws on students’ entrepreneurial and presentation skills and is eagerly contested every year.
At the time my daughter started Summit, her confidence in her academic ability was low. The teachers at Summit Saturday School have helped her raise her confidence by supporting her in every possible way.
