Acceptance on the AS or A level course is conditional on you having achieved a high grade in GCSE Chemistry and showing enthusiasm for the subject. You are given an assessment prior to joining to determine your ability and suitability for the course. You must demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving success.
Our Chemistry teachers make the maximum possible use of the time available during the course. You can expect worked examples from past papers in class, and regular written homework and, most important of all, timed tests throughout the course and mock examinations at an appropriate time in the academic year. The AS Chemistry examination consists of 2 written papers:
8CH0 1 Chemistry Paper 1: Core Inorganic and Physical Chemistry
8CH0 2 Chemistry Paper 2: Core Organic and Physical Chemistry
A level Chemistry 9CH0
At A level, the subjects taught at AS are studied in greater detail. There are 3 examinations for the A level:
9CH0/01 Chemistry Paper 1: Advanced Inorganic and Physical Chemistry
9CH0/02 Chemistry Paper 2: Advanced Organic and Physical Chemistry
9CH0/03 Chemistry Paper 3: General and Practical Principles in Chemistry
The A level Practical endorsements, the 12 assessed laboratory exercises, do not form part of the Saturday Course. We would expect you to do at your school of through an independent provider.
At the time my daughter started Summit, her confidence in her academic ability was low. The teachers at Summit Saturday School have helped her raise her confidence by supporting her in every possible way.
I feel good about coming to Summit on Saturday morning. I would come anyway because it improves me and it’s sort of fun.
My impression of Summit is that it has certainly helped Ashwin considerably in his mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. Basically what he was missing he has gained in techniques to solve complex problems.
